Description

We are a university which prides itself on our long history and tradition, but which is firmly setting its sights on the future. Since the beginning when we were founded in 1845, we have been outward-looking with a spirit of innovation, resilience and service demonstrated through our pioneering advances in farming productivity and across the land based industries.

The impact of those who have studied at the RAU since its foundation has been extraordinary, not just in the UK but globally.  Our academics have a long tradition of providing practical solutions to real world problems through their applied research and expertise in “Knowledge Exchange”. We take very seriously our responsibility in the coming years to continue to lead and to innovate in these areas and ensure that our graduates can navigate the great challenges ahead; how to feed growing populations sustainably and safely in the face of climate change, Brexit, the loss of biodiversity and struggling rural communities.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer as a key member of the University’s senior leadership team, this is a pivotal new leadership role in shaping the future of the RAU. The Director of Academic Services will bring an integrated approach to the design and delivery of services across the education and student lifecycle, with student experience at the heart of service design.

The Director of Academic Services will lead, manage, and develop a multi-functional team fostering a culture of empowerment and collaboration to achieve challenging targets and service excellence, ensuring that service provision is aligned with the University’s strategy.

This is a challenging position for a suitably qualified and experienced professional who will play a major role in the development of the University.  You will hold a degree in a relevant discipline and have senior management experience gained within a higher education environment. A proven track record in the delivery of  transformative change for the student experience and/or academic administration is also required. Articulate and a good influencer, you will excel at leading teams through times of change and have a thorough understanding of the higher education landscape.
